"UNHAPPY MEN AND WIVES.
Mrs. Martha Corin, of Dolcoath-road, complained of an assault by her husband, Mr. Alfred Corin, to whom she has been married seven years and by whom she has two delicate children. So unhappy had been their relationships that two deeds of separation were drawn up, but she consented to live with him again. If Mrs. Corin could keep the house and furniture and have something towards the keep of the children she would try to maintain herself. Mr. Corin had announced the furniture for sale: and going there, Nov. 24th, because she would not give him a sewing-machine, he threw her down, knelt on her back, and beat her until she could not see. Mr. Corin retorted that his wife had a wretched temper and he only gave her a good shaking. He was fined 17s. 6d. for the assault and an order was made of 10s. a week for his wife and children." 2
