In 1851 John Murley, aged 34, born in Phillack, moulder in iron foundry, and wife Ann Murley, aged 33, born in Phillack, housekeeper, children (born in Phillack): George (12), scholar, Mary Jane (9), John (7), Angelina (1), were staying with John's unmarried uncle John James (82) of Gwithian, in Bodriggy, Phillack.
In 1861 John Murley, aged 48 [sic], born in Hayle Cornwall, iron founder dockyard, and wife Ann Murley, aged 43, born in Hayle, were living in 90 Fratton Road, Arundel Terrace, Portsea, Hampshire. In 1871 John Murley, aged 54, born in Hayle, and wife Ann Murley, aged 53, born in Hayle, were living in Portsea Hampshire. Present were children: Angelina (21) of Hayle, and born in Portsmouth: Benjamin (15), Ellen (13).
In 1881 John Murley, aged 64, born in Phillack, retired iron moulder, and wife Ann Murley, aged 63, born in Phillack, were living in 140 Fratton Street, Portsea, Hampshire. Present was son Benjamin (25) of Portsea, sorting clerk in the post office.
In 1891 John Murley, aged 74, born in Hayle, retired iron moulder, aged pensioner, and wife Ann Murley, aged 73, born in Hayle, were living at 50 Hudson Road, Portsea. At the same address was son Benjamin and his family.
