MUSICAL pupils at a city school have rediscovered a "hymn of St. Giles" which was written 60 years ago but later lost.
Staff and children at Myle Cross Junior School, St Giles, found the hymn, which had been written by the school's first headmaster Dennison McCall in an old pamphlet.
The song had been set to the music of Lincoln Cathedral organist Dr Gordon Slater in the 1930s. But over the years the hymn, written when the housing estate was first built, was forgotten and no longer used in the local church or school.
At a special service held at St Giles church today to celebrate the school's 60th birthday the old song was dusted off and sung for the first time in more than 20 years.
