In 1861, Grace Skewes (37) of Crowan and husband John Skewes (35) of Crowan, copper miner, were living in Horse Downs, Crowan. Present were children (born in Crowan): John (7), Richard (1), brother Richard* Carnsew (22) of Crowan, copper miner
* There was no Richard Carnsew in the 1841 or 1851 Censuses. Grace's youngest brother William would have been 22 in 1861. See 1871 Census below.
In 1871, Grace Skewes (47) of Crowan and husband John Skewes (41) of Cury, miner, were living in Crowan. Present were children (born in Crowan): John H. (17), miner, Richard H. (10), scholar, Annie J. (8), scholar, lodger William Carnsew (31) of Crowan, agricultural labourer
In 1881, Grace Skewes (54) of Crowan, widow, tin miner's wife, was living in a private address, Crowan. Present were children (born in Crowan): Richard (20), farm labourer, Anne Jane (18), copper ore dresser
