In 1871 Catherine Sewell (32) of Gwinear and husband Edward Sewell (31) of St. Keverne, blacksmith, were living in Praze, Crowan, Cornwall. Present was daughter Ann (2) of Crowan.

In 1881 Catherine Sowell (42) of Gwinear and husband Edward Sowell (41) of Helston, blacksmith, were living in Carnhell Cottages, Gwinear. With them was daughter Annie (12) of Crowan.

In 1891 Catherine S. Sowell (53) of Gwinear and husband Edward J Sowell (51) of Helston, black smith, were living in Carnhell, Gwinear. At home was daughter Annie M. (22) of Crowan.

In 1901 Catherine S. Sowell (63) of Gwinear and husband Edward Sowell (61) of Helston, black smith, were living in Carnhell, Gwinear. At home was daughter Annie M. (32) of Crowan.

SOWELL—At Carnhell, near Camborne, Oct. 4, Katherine Skewes, the wife of E. Sowell, blacksmith, Carnhell.

DEATH.—We sincerely regret to announce the death of Mrs. Katherine Skewes Sowell (wife of Mr. Edward Sowell, smith), which occurred at Carnhell on Sunday, the 4th inst., after a very painful illness. Mrs. Sowell, who was a most devoted wife and loving mother, leaves a husband and one daughter to mourn her loss. The greatest sympathy is felt for the bereaved. Her remains were interred in St. Gwinear Churchyard on Wednesday afternoon amid every token of respect. The mourners were—Mr. Ed. Sowell (husband), Mrs. T. Chinn (daughter), Mrs. Rapson (sister), Mr. T. Chinn (son-in-law), Mr. George Prout (brother), Mrs. T. Prout (sister-in-law), Mr. Wm. Prout (brother), Mr. T. Prout (brother), Miss M. Prout (niece), Mr. R. J. Rapson (nephew), Miss A. Prout (niece), Mr. J. Prout (nephew), Mrs. William James (niece), Mr. W. H. Rapson (nephew), Miss A. E. Prout (niece).... The coffin was of pitchpine, with brass fittings, the breastplate bearing the following inscription:— "Katherine Skewes Sowell, died October 4th, 1903, aged 66 years."
