In 1881, Eliza Patchett (19) of Sutterton Fen, single, was working as a kitchen maid for William T. F. Hack and wife Emily E. L., in Silk Willoughby, Lincolnshire.

In 1891, Eliza Topps (29) of Sutterton Fen, and husband Frederick W. Topps (32) of Muston Leicestershire, railway goods checker, were living in 5 Sharpe's Passage, Old Sleaford, Lincolnshire. Present were children (born in Old Sleaford): John F. (2), Ada E. (1), Eliza's [half-]brother John D. Denman (16) of Heckington Fen, railway porter

In 1901, the family was living in Quarrington, Lincolnshire
