GRIMSBY BANKRUPTCY COURT...

Herbert Askew, tailor and outfitter, of 123, Grimsby-road, New Cleethorpes, was examined. Liabilities £280 7s. 8d., assets £55 1s. 4d. Replying to the Official Receiver, debtor said that he commenced business as an outfitter three years ago with £60 saved while serving in South Africa as a Yeoman. Trade had since been bad, and owing to sickness in his family he had got into difficulties, being compelled to file his petition through two writs for £101 being issued against him. A month's adjournment was ordered.

In 1911 Herbert Askew, age 32 (b. Oct 1878 in England), tailor, and wife Lucy, age 23 (b. Jan 1889 in England) were living in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. With them were children: Harold (b. Apr 1905 in England), Ethel (b. Nov 1910 in Manitoba), brother Frank Askew (b. Nov 1885 in England), brokerman.

In 1930 Herbert Askew (51) of New York [sic], tailor, and wife Lucy (41) of England, were living in Long Beach township, Los Angeles, California, USA. With them were daughters Ethyle Askew (19) of Canada and F. Gertrude Askew (7) of California.
