In 1901 Joseph Motley (30) of Leake Lincolns., general labourer, and wife Annie (26) of Sheffield Yorks., were living at 10 Pollard Buildings, Idle, Yorkshire. Present were daughters Clara Annie (6) of Leeds, Rose (2) of Shipley, Lily (5 mo) of Idle.

In 1911 Joseph Motley (41) of Leake Lincs., carting agent (own account), and wife of 17 years Annie (38) of Sheffield Yorks, were living at 161 Albion Rd Idle Yorks. Present were children: Clara Annie (16) of Leeds Yorks, Rose (13) of Shipley Yorks, and born in Idle Yorks: Lilly (11), William Henry (9), Joseph (6), Beatrice (4), Walter Fredrick (8 months).

In the 1939 Register Joseph Motley (b. 22 May 1870), retired greengrocer, and wife Annie Motley (b. 17 Nov 1874), unpaid domestic duties, were living at 36 Wood Lane, Bradford C.B., Yorkshire (West Riding). Present was son Norman Motley (b. 27 Sep 1917), builder's plasterer.
