In 1901 Samuel Motley (36) of Old Leake, horseman on farm, and wife Charlotte (29) of Fosdyke Fen were living in "Barley Sheaf" Inn, Brothertoft. With them was daughter Maud M. (2) of Kirton Fen.

In Oct 1903 Samuel Motley, labourer, and his brother John were granted Probate of their father's personal effects.

In 1911 Samuel Motley (46) of Leake, farm foreman, and wife of 14 years Charlotte (39) of Holland Fen (mother of 2 children, 1 deceased) were living in Helpringham Lincolnshire. Present was daughter Maud (12) of Kirton Fen, school.
