Ermengarde

  • Married (2): Bef 1172
  • Died: After Jul 1190

   Research Notes:

Medlands does not provide parentage for Ermengarde, suggesting lack of evidence. Others show her as Ermengarde to Toucy, daughter of Ithier IV, seigneur de Toucy, and Elisabeth de Joigny, dame de Champlay (e.g. http://racineshistoire.free.fr/LGN/PDF/Dampierre.pdf, p. 2). Others again show Guillaume's wife as Basilie de Mouchy, which does not appear to be correct.

---------------------------

Her first marriage is indicated by the charter dated Feb 1211 (O.S.) under which "Gui de Dampierre frère dudit Dreu" guaranteed the loyalty of "Dreu de Mello le jeune".

It is also suggested by the charter dated 1172 under which "Drogo de Melloto et Ermengardis uxor mea" founded Vieupou priory, with the consent of "domini Guidonis de Dampetra et domini Milonis fratris sui et Guillelmi filii nostri".

   Marriage Information:

Ermengarde married Guillaume I DE DAMPIERRE of Champagne, son of Seigneur Guy I DE DAMPIERRE Viscount of Troyes and Helvide DE BAUDÉMENT. (Guillaume I DE DAMPIERRE of Champagne was born about 1125 in Troyes, Aube, Champagne, France and died after 1161 in Dampierre, Aube, Champagne, France.)

   Marriage Information:

Ermengarde also married Dreux IV DE MELLO seigneur de St. Bris, Constable de Mello, son of Seigneur Dreux III DE MELLO and Anonym DE ST. BRIS, before 1172. (Dreux IV DE MELLO seigneur de St. Bris, Constable de Mello was born about 1137 in Mello, Oise, Picardy, France and died on 3 Mar 1217-1218 in St Bris le Vineux, Yonne, Bourgogne, France.)
