"MR. ROBERT LAMBIE, OF TARANAKI.
Many old Ellesmere friends will be sorry to hear of the death, which occurred recently, of one of the best known and most highly respected settlers in Taranaki, Mr. Robert Lambie, of Pihama, at the age of 86 years. The late Mr Lambie has a number of relatives in this district.
Mr Lambie was one of the pioneers of the Pihama district, having settled there 46 years ago. He came to New Zealand in 1865, leaving Kilmarnock, Scotland, shortly after his marriage, and settled in Canterbury, where he and Mrs Lambie lived for eighteen years. He was a prominent figure in bowling circles, and was a founder of the Pihama Club. Mr Lambie was also a keen supporter of the Farmers' Union, being a member of the executive and a life member." 3
