"KILLED BY TREE.
FARMER FROM COROMANDEL.
ON HOLIDAY AT PORT JACKSON....

Mr. Henry Thompson Johnson, a well-known farmer of Coromandel, aged 64 [sic], was killed this morning at Port Jackson through being struck by a falling tree. He was spending a holiday on the farm of his son, Mr. Bailey Johnson, at Port Jackson, 40 miles from Coromandel.

Mr. Johnson was standing near a tree which was being felled, and it came down in an unexpected direction, striking Mr. Johnson and inflicting injuries from which he died an hour and a half later.

Mr. Johnson had recently been appointed coroner at Coromandel. He was a justice of the peace and a member of the County Council. He is survived by his wife, one son and three daughters.
