"DEATH IN CAIRNS.
CAIRNS. October 12
Mr. Joseph A. H. Elmiger (74), retired manager of Penfold and Co. in South Australia, who, with his 11-year-old grand-daughter, came to Caims three months ago to seek, better health, died in a private hospital here at 4 o'clock Friday morning, asthma being a contributing cause. He was given a Masonic funeral on Saturday morning.
The girl will leave for Melbourne by the Orungal to-morrow. Mr. Elmiger had been living at Kew, Melbourne, since his retirement.
The funeral cortege was attended by Masonic brethren, representatives of Cummins and Campbell Ltd. and Mr. J. G. Kipps, of the Central Hotel. Rev. J. G. Johnston (Church of England) officiated at the graveside." 3
