  Research Notes:

William Bevan's eldest daughter Catherine William married twice. First Catherine married (as his third wife) Richard Evan of the same parish, by whom she had a son, William Richard or Prichard (i.e. ap Richard). After Richard's death in 1748, Catherine married for a second time to Edward William, by whom she had Margaret, John and Richard (all appearing in the baptismal register of Llanbedr). An examination of the Wills of her father William Bevan and of her son Richard Edward seem to point to Richard Evan being William Bevan's brother, a conclusion one would naturally raise an eyebrow to and consider unlikely. From the Wills:

- William Bevan names his nephew William Prichard; i.e. William son of Richard Evan.

- Catherine's son, Richard Edward, names his eldest brother, Evan Richard (son of Richard Evan by his second wife), and his nephew and niece Richard William and Catherine William, both of Pen y cerrig, children of William Prichard of Pen y cerrig who, by the time Richard Edward wrote his Will in 1802, had been dead 12 years.

That William Prichard was William Bevan's nephew, and William Prichard's children were nephew & niece of William Bevan's grandson (Richard Edward), is possible only if Catherine William's first husband was her father's brother. If the Richard Evan who married William Bevan's daughter Catherine was not William Bevan's brother, then, considering how William uses terms of relationship throughout his will in a consistent way, he would not have named William Prichard as nephew. He would have referred to him as his grandson (as son of his daughter Catherine).

As Catherine married Richard Evan in 1741, she would have been born probably in the early 1720s. There is a gap of a decade between the births of William Bevan's first and second children (his daughters Catherine & Elizabeth) which suggests that Catherine was born from an early marriage, noting whereas Elizabeth is named in the Will of her maternal great-grandfather in 1734—when she was about 1 year old—Catherine is not named.
