In the Name of God, Amen, I Robert Edmund of Brynysgyboriau in the Parish of Trawsfynydd in the County of Merioneth and Diocess of Bangor Farmer being sick and weak in Body but of a perfect Mind and Memory do make publish and ordain this my last Will and Testament in Manner and Form following (that is to say)
First of all in pursuance and past performance of certain Articles of Agreement bearing Date the eighteenth Day of February, in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and sixty made previous to my marriage with Elizabeth Richard my late Wife now long since deceased I do dispose of the Sum of One hundred and twenty pounds sterling (or the Residue of the same not laid out to their or either of their Use Prefferrment or Education) unto and among my Children by my said late Wife deceased in the Manner in the Shares and Proportions following (that is to say) I do hereby Give and bequeath unto Morris Richard of Amnoedd, John Edmund of Park,* and Edmund Jones of Ysgwrn* and the Survivor or Survivors of them and to the Executors Administrators or Assigns of such Survivor of them in Trust to and for the sole Use Benefit and Maintenance of my eldest Son Edmund Roberts the Sum of Twenty four pounds sterling being one fifth Part of the said One hundred and twenty pounds; I do also Give and bequeath unto my eldest Daughter Elizabeth, to my second Son Richard, and my youngest Daughter Sarah the Sum of Twenty Four pounds sterling each being three other fifth Parts of the said Sum of One hundred and twenty pounds: And whereas I have laid out and advanced Fifteen pounds sterling in the Advancement in Life and apprenticing of my third and youngest [son] John with Mr. Thomas Foulk Bala Grocer and Shopkeeper, now I do hereby Give and bequeath unto my said Son John the Sum of nine pounds sterling, Residue of the Sum of twenty four pounds which I would otherwise have allotted to him as a fifth Part of the said Sum of One hundred and twenty pounds in pursuance of the said Marriage Articles of Agreement. — And I do hereby will and direct that the above Legacies shall be deemed a vested Interest in each of my said five Children immediately upon my Decease, And that the same be paid to them or to their or either of their Use or Uses respectively at the end of twelve Calendar Months next after my Decease.
I do hereby ratify and confirm the Provision made to my present Wife Margaret Lloyd in and by the Agreement made and entered into previous to my Marriage with her in the Year One thousand seven hundred and seventy four, as to the Sum of Two hundred pounds sterling to be paid to her Use in Case she shall survive and outlive me the said Robert Edmund.
All and Singular my personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever including therein the Proffit of my Lease of Brynysguboriau House Outhouses and Farm, and the Lease of my Houses called Tai? tan y Fynwent Garden and Appurtenances after the payment of all my just Debts funeral expences and the several Legacies and Bequests aforesaid I do hereby Give devise and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto my said eldest Son Edmund Roberts; And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint them the said Maurice Richard, John Edmund, and Edmund Jones and the Survivors and Survivor of them and the Executors Administrators or Assigns of such Survivor Executors or Executor of this my last Will and Testament in Trust Nevertheless to and for the sole Use and Benefit of my said eldest Son Edmund Roberts and I do hereby earnestly desire and request them and each of them to be aiding and assisting to my said eldest Son Edmund in the Execution of this my Will, and in the Management of whatever is hereby allotted to him, least he should not be of a proper Capacity to undertake the Management thereof himself; And last I do hereby revoke disannull and make void all other former Will or Wills by me at any time heretofore made and executed and do declare this to be my last Will and Testament.
In Witness whereof I the said Robert Edmund have hereunto sett my Hand and Seal this seventh Day of September in the Year of our Lord, One thousand seven hundred and eighty two.
Signed sealed published and declared by the said Testator Robert Edmund as and for his last Will and Testament in Writing in the Presence of Us, who in his Presence, at his Request, and in the Presence of each other, have hereunto subscribed our Names as Witnesses.....
