--------------------------
We have to record with regret the death of Mr. Charles Kelsey Stevens, of 73, Herbert-street, Hoxton, which occurred somewhat suddenly on the 11th instant. Mr. Stevens was an old and well-known inhabitant of Hoxton, and in connection with local politics had done good service for his own party as vice-president of the Conservative Association for the Wenlock Ward. For ten years he held the post of Warden at Holy Trinity Church, where his services were highly valued, and his person much esteemed. On Friday, the 16th inst, a large congregation assembled at the church, when the first part of the burial service was read by the Vicar, the Rev. W. E. H. Sotheby. The coffin, covered with flowers, was placed in the chancel during the service. Several appropriate hymns were sung by a full choir, and afterwards the funeral cortege proceeded to Highgate Cemetery. Among those present in the church were the Rev. F. W. Ford, chaplain of the Workhouse, the Revs. T. Hodgson and H. S. Brown, the present and former curates of the parish, and nearly all the officers of the church.
