In February 1857 Herbert Chrismas Davey was present at the marriage of his sister Ann Davey to William Hampton in Brighton.
At the time of the 1871 England Census Herbert C Davey, aged 23, born in Brighton Sussex, occupier [of] 116 acres employing 5 men & 2 boys, was at the same address as his parents in Peel House, Hailsham Sussex.
In 1873 Herbert Chrismas Davey of Hailsham was co-executor of his late father's Will.
In April 1876 Herbert C Davey was present at the marriage of his brother Edward Davey to Mary Ann Biggs in Holborn London.
At the time of the 1891 England Census Herbert C Davey, aged 43, born in Brighton Sussex, living on his own means, and wife Harriet J, aged 33, born in Eastbourne Sussex, were living at 125 Shirley Road, Millbrook Hampshire. With them were children (born in Southampton Hants): Herbert G (6), scholar, Charles C (4), scholar, Rajinold (3), and Dorothy (11 months).

DEATH OF A WELL-KNOWN RESIDENT.—On Saturday last, Mr. Herbert Christmas Davey, died at his residence, 125, Shirley-road, after a short illness. The cause of death was paralysis, he had a seizure on the previous Thursday, and never spoke afterwards. The deceased gentleman was well known formerly as a yachtsman and he always took considerable interest in aquatic sports ; in politics he was a conservative and a member of the Banister Ward Conservative Association. His age was 48 and he leaves a widow and a family of 5 children. The funeral took place on Wednesday, and a large number of beautiful wreaths were sent by sorrowing relatives and sympathetic friends. Messrs. Ash, Whitcher and Negus, attended on behalf of the Banister Ward Conservative Association.
