At the time of the 1871 England Census Edward Davey, aged 34, born in Brighton Sussex, unmarried, butcher employing 7 men 3 boys, was living at 21 Black Lion Street, Brighton.

In 1873 Edward Davey of 21 Black-Lion-street Brighton was co-executor of his late father's Will.

At the time of the 1881 England Census Edward Davey, aged 44, born in Brighton Sussex, owner & occupier of 200 acres of ground employing 8 men and --- boys, and wife Mary A, aged 43, born in Brighton, were living in Beech Hill House, Warbleton Sussex.
