Appointed in the Will of his brother John Williams Gwynne Hughes of Hafodneddin, Esq. (written 1830) as one of the guardians of John's children.

Named as a beneficiary in the Will of his brother James Hughes of Tymawr in Llanfihangel Rhos-y-corn, Esq. (written 1833)

In Jul 1842 William Garnons Hughes of Glaucothy, Esq. was granted Administration of the personal effects of his sisters Martha Sybil Hughes and Beatrice Hughes, spinsters, both of Tregib House, Llandeilo-fawr, he being their only surviving brother.

In 1851 W G Hughes (49) of Carmarthenshire, Gent & Magistrate, and wife Fanny (37) of Carmarthenshire, were living in Glaucothy, Llanegwad. Present were children (born in Carmarthenshire): Fanny Beatrice (14), scholar at home, Mary Eliza (11), scholar at home, Emily Garnons (8), scholar at home, John Williams (6), scholar at home, Alice Maria (4), Edward James (3), Katherine (1).

In 1861 Wm Garnons Hughes (59) of Llandilo Carmarthenshire, magistrate for the county of Carmarthen, widower, was living in Glaucothy, Llanegwad. With him were children (born in Carmarthen, unmarried): Fanny Beatrice (24), My Eliza (21), Alice Maria (14), scholar, Katherine (10), scholar, Maria Maude (9), scholar, Amy Florence (8), scholar, Ellen Georgina (7), scholar, Ernest Gilbert (5), scholar.

In 1871 William G Hughes (70) of Llandilofawr, magistrate & landowner, widower, was living in Glaucothy, Llanegwad. With him were children (born in Carmarthen, unmarried): Fanny B. (34), gentlewoman, Mary E. (31), gentlewoman, Katherine (21), gentlewoman, Amy F. (18), gentlewoman, Ellen G. (17), gentlewoman

William married Frances ("Fanny") MORRIS, daughter of Thomas MORRIS, Esq., Mayor of Carmarthen, and Maria THORNTON, on 26 Sep 1835 in Christchurch, Gloucester Spa, Gloucestershire, England. (Fanny HUGHES was born in 1813 and was buried on 26 Aug 1859 in Llanegwad, Carmarthenshire, Wales, aged 46 years.)

  Marriage Notes:

On Saturday, Sept. 26, at Christchurch, Gloucester Spa, by the Rev. J. Lewis, Vicar of Long Ashton, Somerset, William Garnons Hughes, Esq., son of the late J. W. Hughes, Esq., of Tregib, Carmarthenshire, to Fanny, daughter of Thomas Morris, Esq. of Carmarthen. 2
