Abstract of the Will of the Reverend Owen Owen of Bodowen in the County of Merioneth, Clerk, written 5 Jan 1826, proved 19 Jun 1826.
Gives & devises all his freehold messuages, tenements, lands and hereditaments known as Bodowen Paul yr Tar ty issa and Pen y bryn in the parish of Llanaber in the county of Merioneth to his niece Ellen Evans of Bodowen, spinster, for the term of her natural life, and immediately after her death he gives & devises the same to his friends John Edwards of Dolserey, Esquire, and William Williams of Dolgelley, Gentleman, to the use of his great nephew Owen Owen of Coleshill in the county of Warwick, and in tail to his nephew the reverend William Wynne Owen of Oswestry in the county of Salop, Clerk.
Gives & bequeaths his leasehold tenement farm and lands ffarch ynys fach in the parish of Llanaber aforesaid to his said niece Ellen Evans for the term of her natural life, and after her decease he gives & bequeaths the same to his said great nephew Owen Owen during the term of his natural life, and after his decease to his said nephew William Wynne Owen.
Gives & bequeaths all his horses, cattle, sheep, pigs, implements of husbandry, and all other his farming stock, to his said niece Ellen Evans for her life, as well as all his household goods & furniture except his plate & books, wardrobe & escritoire, and after her death he gives & bequeaths the same to his Executor.
Gives & bequeaths £2,000 in Trust to his friends John Edwards & William Williams, secured by mortgage of Gwernenion estate in the county of Merioneth, and all other sums of money secured by him by mortgages, to pay his debts, his funeral expenses, and the expense of proving his will, and out of the annual proceeds and interest of said mortgages, to pay a £20 annuity to Elizabeth Owen, widow of his late brother Robert Owen, a £40 annuity to his sister Ellen Owen, widow, a £20 annuity to Ellen's daughter Ellen Owen should she survive her mother, a £10 annuity to his servant Ellis Humphreys. Out of the said Trust monies he gives £100 to his nephew William Wynne Owen, £100 to his niece Ann Diana the wife of the reverend Thomas Roberts of Hendre, £100 to his niece Elizabeth the wife of reverend Edward Jones of Hayhill, clerk, £10 to his niece Jane Owen of Dolgelley, 19 guineas to his great nephew Thomas Edward Roberts to buy a gold watch, £50 to his nephew and godson Edward Owen Jones to be laid out in the purchase of books, 19 guineas a piece to his great nephews John & Robert Dashwood, £10 to his great nephew Robert Hassell Owen, £50 to his great niece Elizabeth the wife of Francis Felton of London, Gentleman, and £50 to their son Francis Owen Felton, £100 to godson Thomas Brown Parker of Sweeney Hall, Esquire, and £10 a piece to Thomas Brown Parker's brother the reverend John Parker and sisters Mary and Elizabeth, £50 to Martha, the daughter of his late kinsman the reverend Ellis Wynne, 19 guineas to his godson Griffith Jones Williams, the son of the said William Williams, £5 to his workman Humphrey Ellis, and £5 to widow Elizabeth Jones of Barmouth.
As to the £2,000 secured to him by mortgage of Gwernenion estate, John Edwards & William Williams are to pay the annual proceeds and interest thereof to his great nephew Owen Owen for the term of his natural life, and after his decease, the principal money passing to great nephew's children. In default of such issue, the principal money of £2,000 shall pass to the grandchilden of his late brother Edward Owen and of his late sisters Catherine Kenrick and Elizabeth Williams.
Gives & bequeaths to John Edwards & William Williams 10 guineas each for the troubles they will have in the execution of the trusts.
Gives & bequeaths his gold watch chain and seal? with his armorial bearings to his great nephew Maurice Wynne Owen, and to his father William Wynne Owen he gives & bequeaths his gig and harness.
All the rest & residue he gives & bequeaths to his great nephew Owen Owen, whom he nominates & appoints the sole Executor of his last will and testament.
