Abstract of the Will of John Vaughan of Kefn Bodig in the parish of Llanckycil, Barrister, written 30 May 1670, proved 1 Sep 1671. 2
Gives & bequeaths a legacy of 40 shillings to be equally divided between the poor of Llanyckill & Llanywllyn within six months after his decease.
Ratifies and confirms a deed dated 23 Feb 1652 between himself of the first part and Richard Nanney, John Nanney & William Nanney gentleman of the second part, and his three daughters Anne Vaughan, Katharine Vaughan and Jonet Vaughan of the third part of those his messuages, lands and tenements with their appurtenances in the parishes of Llanycil, Llanyrollyn and Trawsfynydd in county Merioneth to the several and respective uses in the said deed of covenant...
Item. Devises & bequeaths to his eldest daughter Anne Vaughan and her heirs all his messuages, lands & tenements with their appurtenances in Nanney in the parish of Llanvachreth in county Merioneth called Maes y Crymach, Ty? yn y Maes and Pen rhin yr --?-- now occupied by John Rees and Lewis Owen which he has since the sealing of the said deed of covenant purchased from William ap Ellisse and others, together with all those messuages, lands and tenements with appurtenances in Llanyckill called Kefn vaes which he purchased from William Price of Rhiwlas Esqr.
In default of heirs of his daughter Anne Vaughan he devises & bequeaths the same to his youngest daughter Jonet Vaughan and her heirs.
In default of heirs of his daughter Jonett Vaughan he devises & bequeaths the same to his second daughter Katherine Vaughan and her heirs.
Item. Gives & devises all his lands & tenements in the parish of Llanyckill called Merl y garnedd now occupied by Thomas John to his sons-in-law David Lloyd of Croes enion in county Denbigh, gentleman, and Evan Evans of Plas tany bwlch in Merioneth, gentleman upon Trust that if the said David Lloyd and Evan Evans should sell the said property for the sum of £100 then £50 should go to his son-in-law Hugh Tudder, gent, the remaining £50 to be divided equally for the benefit of the children of the said David Lloyd and the said Katherine Vaughan his wife, and the said Evan Evans and the said Jonett Vaughan his wife.
Item. Gives & bequeaths £20 to his daughter Katherine Vaughan for the use of his godson & grandson, her second son, John Lloyd. And if he should die before coming of age then he gives and bequeaths the said amount to Katherine Lloyd the eldest daughter of his said daughter Katherine Vaughan.
Item. Gives & bequeaths to his daughter Jonett all his ewes, lambs & other sheep currently in the care of his tenant Richard Morris.
After the payment of his funeral expenses, debts & legacies he gives & bequeaths to his daughter Anne Vaughan all the rest of his goods & chattels, plate, books, pewter, brass, beds, beddings, tables, clothes, napkins, sheets, curtains, carpets, cupboards, chairs... and the rest of his household stuff & personal estate, except the term of one judgement of £500 he obtained in Montgomeryshire session against Charles Salesbury Esqr. deceased, executor of the last will and testament of Edward Vaughan of Lloydiarth Esqr deceased.....
Item. Gives & bequeaths to his servant David Ellis a legacy of £10...
Constitutes, names & appoints his said sons-in-law Hugh Tudder, David Lloyd & Evan Evans gentlemen co-executors of his last will and testament.
