In Jan 1882 Alfred Roods of 5 Oak-villas Derby-road Croydon in the County of Surrey, surveyor, was co-executor of the Will of his uncle Henry Crowhurst Roods of Westham, M.D.

At the time of the 1891 England Census Alfred Roods, age 34, born in Litlington Sussex, single, assistant surveyor, was lodging at 35 Derby Rd Croydon Surrey.

At the time of the 1901 England Census Alfred Roods, age 44, born in Litlington Sussex, single, quantity surveyor, was living at 67 Thornhill Rd Croydon Surrey.

THE NATIONAL PLAYING FIELDS ASSOCIATION.—The R. C. Poulter Open Spaces Trust has purchased at a cost of £5,000, the property known as Bishopsford, Carshalton, Surrey, and presented it, through the National Playing Fields Association, to the Carshalton Urban District Council. The Goldsmiths Company have offered the Association a site of 7¼ acres at Crowborough. Mr. Alfred Roods, of Wychehurst, Hankham, Nr. Pevensey, has offered to buy a field of 10 acres and present it to the Association for the use of his village, and another resident of Sussex has arranged to bequeath a beautiful cricket ground to the Association after his death....

The generous gift of about eight acres of land near the Friday-street Congregational Church, Westham, has been made by Mr. Alfred Roods, of "Wychehurst," Hankham, to the National Playing Fields Association. The ground is to be managed by a committee of seven, three appointed by the East Sussex National Playing Fields Association, two by the donor of the land, and two by the Stone Cross Cricket Club. A portion of the ground has already been levelled and returfed for a cricket pitch. The ground is being opened on 6th July by Lieut.-Colonel H. I. Powell-Edwards, D.S.O., of East Chiltington President of the East Sussex National Playing Fields Association).

In the 1939 Register Alfred Roods (b. 6 Feb 1857), retired quantity surveyor, was living in Wychehurst Hankham Street, Hankham, Sussex. At the same address were [sister] Margaret E Roods (b. 3 Jan 1859), unpaid domestic duties, and [niece] Florence R Roods (b. 22 Sep 1904), unpaid domestic duties.

The death has occurred at Hankham near Eastbourne, of Mr Alfred Roods, whose ambition was to make a photographic survey of Sussex churches.
