  Marriage Notes:

"Turton-Smiles

GREEN and red formed the attendants' colour scheme at the wedding of Mr. George Frank Turton and Miss Anne Middelton Smiles in All Saints' Church of England, Wickham Terrace, on Saturday evening.

The bride is the younger daughter of Mrs. E. Smiles. Lutwyche, and the late Mr. E. M. Smiles, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. G. L. Turton, Albion. The Rev. R. B. Bates officiated, and Dr. Dalley Scarlett was the organist. Mr. R. J. Wilkinson sang.

The bride, who was given away by her elder brother (Mr. C. G. Smiles), wore a trained gown of pale magnolia satin, made on Empire lines, and featuring a high cowl neckline. A coronet of lily-of-the-valley held her tulle veil, and she carried a bouquet of dahlias, carnations, and gladioli.

Mrs. Lex Wright (matron of honour) and Miss Audrey Wilkinson (niece of the bride), as bridesmaid, were frocked alike in green taffetas, fashioned on Princess lines and made with buttons down the front.

Mr. A. E. Smiles was best man, and Mr. S. Toon the groomsman.

After the ceremony the guests were entertained at the National Hotel. The bride's mother wore black and white cloque, with a shoulder posy of red carnations and rosebuds. A frock of rust-red Jersona silk, trimmed with Robin Hood green, was worn by the bride on leaving for the honeymoon, which will be spent at Montville." 3
