In 1820 John Chivers was a witness at the marriage of his cousin Mary Eatall Morse to William Blake.
In 1851 England Census John Chivers, aged 48, born in Liddiard Millicent, agricultural labourer, and wife Marria, aged 48, born in Wootton Bassett were living in Liddiard Millicent. Present were children (born in Shaw): Robert (13), ag lab., Ann (11), Mary (7), Alfred (4).
In 1852 John Chivers, his wife and other members of the family including children George, Joseph, Robert, Ann and Alfred, emigrated to the U.S.A, ending up in Branch, Michgan by 1860.
In the 1860 US Federal Census John Chivers, aged 58 years, born in England, labourer, and wife Mariah, aged 58, born in England, were living in Butler township, Branch, Michigan. With them was son Alfred (13), born in England.
