In 1861 Jasper Warman, aged 32, born in Purton, farmer of 120 acres employing 3 labourers, and wife Matilda, aged 30, born in Purton were living in Baileys Common, Purton.

DRUNK

Jaspar Warman, farmer, Purton, was charged with being drunk on the 18th November, at Cricklade.— Fined 5s. and costs.

SHOCKING TRAP ACCIDENT.—A shocking accident the result of which may possibly prove fatal, occurred on Tuesday to a party of three returning home from Cricklade market. Mr. Joseph Blackford, butcher, of Purton, with two other men from the same place, while driving near the Packhorse got foul of a milkcart, and a serious spill followed. The occupants of the trap were thrown out into the road with considerable violence. One of them—Mr. Jasper Warman, farmer, of the Common, Purton—escaped with a severe shaking; the other—Mr. Sheppard, a blacksmith, of Purton—fractured his ribs, while Mr. Blackford sustained such serious injuries that his life is despaired of.
