In 1833 Robert Blackford of Swindon was named in the Will of his father-in-law Joseph Reynolds of Swindon as husband of Joseph's daughter Ann.

In 1841 Robert Blackford, aged about 35, butcher, and wife Ann, aged about 35, were living in Wood St., Swindon. Present were children: John (15), Mary (10), Joseph (11), Maria (5), Robert (4), Ann (2). Robert's aunt, Dorothy Silvister, was living next door.

In 1861 Robert Blackford, aged 56, born in Swindon, butcher, and wife Ann, aged 57, born in Swindon were living at 11 Bridge St., Swindon. With them was son William (19) of Swindon, fitter & turner.

Robert Blackford of Bridge Street died aged 63 years (burial record).

"On Wednesday morning last Mr. Coroner Whitmarsh held an inquest at the Golden Lion Inn, New Swindon, on the body of Robert Blackford, butcher, of this place, and who had died on the previous day from taking an overdose of laudanum...."
