John Wayt/Waite was born in either Wootton Bassett where he married Elizabeth Horsell, in which case he was son of John Waite, christened there on 12 Oct 1718; or he was born in Swindon about 6 miles away where he and Elizabeth moved to and raised a family, and if so, he was son of Henry Wayt, christened in Swindon on 5 Sep 1720.

Gives £20 to his wife along with the use of all his household goods & implements for as long as she remains a widow after his death.
Gives £10 each to his four daughters Ann, Elizabeth, Sarah and Rebecca Wayt, to be paid to them when they reach the respective ages of twenty-one years.
Gives & bequeaths £20 to his son John Wayt to be paid to him when he reaches twenty-one years of age.
Gives £10 to the unborn child his wife is now carrying.
All the rest and residue of his goods, rights & credits he gives and bequeaths to his friends William Kemble of Swindon, baker, and Thomas Smith of the same place, grocer, in Trust, to sell and convert into ready money to pay his wife from time to time to assist her in the maintenance and education of their children. He also appoints the said William Kemble and Thomas Smith executors of his will and guardians of his children should his wife remarry.
