MARRIAGE OF MISS G. M. HART-PORTER—MR. A. TAPLIN

On Wednesday afternoon a wedding took place at St. Paul's Church, in which much interest was taken locally, the bride being Miss Gladys Maria Hart-Porter, second daughter of Councillor Fred and Mrs. Hart-Porter, of Greenway Park, Chippenham, and the bridegroom Mr. Archibald Taplin, youngest son of Alderman H. Taplin, of Devizes. The bride comes of a family well-known and respected in the town; her father, who is known throughout the Western counties, has been a member of the Town Council for a number of years, and takes a leading part in most of the affairs of the town....

The bride was attended by three bridesmaids—Miss Lilian Hart-Porter (her sister), Miss Hilda Giddings (a friend), and Miss Freda Hart-Porter (her young sister), while Master Harold Hart-Porter (her brother) was the page. Her father gave her away, and Mr. Arthur Chivers, a friend of the bridegroom, acted as best man....
