COLLINGBOURNE KINGSTON.

SAD ACCIDENT.—On Tuesday evening last a man named Edward Goddard, head carter to Mr. Thomas Foord, farmer, of this parish, met with a fatal accident. He was returning home from the harvest field with the last load of corn on his master's waggon, drawn by three horses, and was riding with several of the work-people on the load. On coming to a steep hill the horses started into a gallop, and deceased, in getting down to stop them, was knocked down, and both wheels passed over his body, killing him almost instantaneously. An old man, named John Ralph, who was on the waggon, in trying to get down, was hurled with great violence to the ground, but escaped with a dislocated shoulder. The horses continued at a gallop for a considerable distance, when the "thiller" fell down, and was dragged some distance before the other horses stopped. It was so frightfully injured that it was with difficulty got home, when it had to be killed. A little boy, who was riding the fore horse, managed to keep his seat without falling off. The deceased has left a widow and four small children.
