On 1 May 1484, John Hardwyk was listed on a commission of array for Leicestershire (Calendar of Patent Rolls, 1 Ric. III, p. 400)

On 8 Dec 1484, John Hardewike was listed on a commission of array for Leicestershire (Calendar of Patent Rolls, 2 Ric. III, p. 489)

Of this John Hardwick, it is said that he conducted the Earl of Richmond to the field of Bosworth, and that by his skill and conduct the earl obtained the advantage of ground, wind and sun. (Aug 1485). 2

John de Herdwike dying without issue male in H.8. time, and partition being made of his lands 20 H.8. [1528/9] it appears thereby that this Mannour (there called by the name of Herdwick Grimbald) was before the said partition assigned to William Dingley Esq; and Alice his wife, one of the daughters and heirs to the said John, and to the heirs of the said Alice.. 4
