Licence for the alienation in mortmain by Adam de Branketri, parson of the church of Lullyngston, and Thomas de Sancto Nicholao of a messuage and 30 acres of land in the town of St. Nicholas, in the Isle of Thanet, to a chaplain to celebrate divine service daily at the altar of St. Mary in the parish church of St. Nicholas, for their good estate, for their souls when they are dead and for the souls of their heirs and ancestors, and of Margery de Campis, Cicely de Campis, Matthew de Campis, Geoffrey de Campis, Margery de Campis and John de Colcestre.

Thomas died before 24 Apr, 22 Edward III. [1348]. On this date an Inquisition Post Mortem for John Giffard of Bures [Essex], knight, was conducted, in which it states:

"Bures. The manor with the advowson of the church, with the lands of Uphall, the marshes of Rattescote, Utwyk, Shepeshop, Horshell, Westshephop, Stepynessh with 50a. land, and la Welle containing 5a. land belonging to the said manor in the town of Bures, held of divers lords by the gift of Henry de Shorne, to him and the heirs of his body with remainder to Thomas de Sancto Nicholao and his heirs, by fine levied in the king's court. The said John died without heir of his body.... The said manor and advowson with all the said lands and marshes ought after the death of the said John Giffard to remain to Thomas son and heir of the said Thomas de Sancto Nicholao, aged ten years, by virtue of the said fine." 3
