Copy petition to the King by Matthew Wills, Freeman of Helston on behalf of the other Freeman; who have lately discovered a petition presented to the King by James Coulthard, gentleman on behalf of "persons whom he stiles to be several of the Merchants, Tradesmen, Inhabitants & Freeholders of 'Helston" stating "divers facts and proceedings" in order to obtain a new Charter; Matthew Wills and others consider this highly injurious to them. Petition asks His Majesty to request the Attorney General to review the reports on the Borough and hear the petitioners' case, 14 January 1774.
