MOTOR-CYCLISTS' SPEED.
Criticism by West Riding Coroner at a Horbury Inquest.
Mr. C. J. Haworth held an inquest at Horbury, yesterday, on Herbert Edgar Edward Jeffries (28), engineer's fitter, of Huddersfield, who was killed on Saturday afternoon by being thrown out of the side-car of a motor combination driven by a friend named Francis Henry Davies.
In drawing out to pass a stationary bus Davies collided head-on with a motor cycle ridden by Herbert Carter Coker, of Rastrick, Jeffries being flung from the side-car and his neck broken.
The jury returned a verdict of "Misadventure," the Coroner commenting that motor cyclists travelled considerably faster than was good for themselves or the general traffic."
