LaVerne Elizabeth Bohls Willoughby On January 11, 2005, LaVerne Willoughby, age 85, passed away suddenly due to a recent illness. LaVerne was preceded in death by her husband Luther Willoughby, parents Mr. & Mrs. F. J. Bohls, sisters Dorothy Rydell and Ella Hebbe, brother Chester Bohls, and niece Cynthia Hebbe Wagner. She is survived by her sister Harriet Hocker and numerous relatives and friends. LaVerne was born in a farmhouse near Pflugerville, Tex., on June 21, 1919. She was baptized and confirmed in Immanuel Lutheran Church of Pflugerville. She attended TLC for a year and then earned an LVN certificate. She worked for several years as a nurse at Wedemeyer and Johns Hospital in Taylor and was noted for being kind. She married Luther Willoughby, Sgt., US Army in 1955. They lived in Germany three times and retired to Missouri. After Luther s death, LaVerne returned to Pflugerville in 1981. In 1986 she moved to Wesleyan Retirement Home in Georgetown for 18 years. She enjoyed assisting with communion at the chapel, shopping, and playing dominoes at Immanuel Lutheran. In April 2004, LaVerne moved to Heatherwilde Assisted Living in Pflugerville. She was a regular at Bible study and church services. LaVerne was faithful in remembering family members special occasions with greeting cards. 3
