"John Hampton Escott Sr., 89, passed away Saturday, Jan 8, 2011, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Greenwood Chapel. Entombment: Greenwood Mausoleum. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Funeral Home. John was born April 6, 1921, in Douglas, Ariz. He was a talented engineer, a headstrong entrepreneur, and devoted patriot to this country. He served in World War II as a second lieutenant. He graduated from the University of Texas in 1941 with a degree in mechanical engineering. John lived the majority of his life in Arlington where he and his son, John Jr., built a steel fabrication business. John loved hunting, his family and his dog Dude. He was a loving, kind-hearted man with a quick-witted sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his son, John Escott Jr. Survivors: Loving wife, Bonnie Redin Escott; daughters, Kay Cox and husband, Earl, Barbara Sharpe and husband, James; granddaughter, Ashley Davis and husband, Stafford; grandson, Taylor Escott and wife, Becky; stepsons, Will Redin and wife, Diane, and Beau Redin and wife, Miranda; as well as numerous stepgrandchildren.
