In 1851 James Roberts, aged 46, born in Constantine, stone mason, and wife Elizabeth, aged 48, born in Ruan Minor, milliner, were living in Church Town, Constantine. Present were children (born in Constantine): Catherine (18), milliner, Edward (16), stone mason, William (15), stone mason, Elizabeth (13), scholar, James (11), scholar, Mary (8), scholar, visitor Eleanor Richards (27) of Ruan Minor, unmarried, dressmaker [wife's sister].

The Will of James Roberts late of the parish of Constantine in the county of Cornwall, stonemason, who died 24 April 1878 at Constantine, was proved 11 September at Bodmin by Jane Roberts, widow, the relict, and Edward Richards Roberts, stonemason, the son, Edward Rowe, farmer, and Sampson Jenkin, stonemason, all of Constantine, the executors. Personal estate under £200. 2
