In 1851, Francis Holman (55) of Crowan, engine man, and wife Elizabeth (48) of Illogan, were living in Carharrack, Gwennap. Present were children: Francis (17) of Wendron, blacksmith, Stephen (8) of Gwennap, son-in-law James Pearce* (25) of Wendron, copper miner
* Called James Holman in 1841 and James Pearce in 1861 (with whom his 'brother-in-law' Stephen Holman-son of Francis-was staying). Either Elizabeth Pearce was a widow when she married Francis Holman, or James was born to the couple out of wedlock just before they were married.
