Dates can be found neither for Jane's birth/christening nor for her marriage to David McClure. The marriage and death records for their son, William McClure, both record his parents' names as David McClure and Jane Shaw, and the fact that William was staying with his aunt Isabella Shaw in 1851 indicates Jane was Isabella's sister. Neither Jane nor David are to be found in any Census after 1841, indicating they probably died before 1851.
Note that in the 1841 Census Jane Shaw, 16 (i.e. born 1825), was a female servant living at Penvallie in Barr by Girvan, Ayrshire. At the same address was another servant, David McClure, aged 30 (i.e. born 1811). Jane was 18 in 1843, and William was born in 1844. Hence it is reasonable to assume that David and Jane were married about 1843.
