1st wife
I originally had Elizabeth as the daughter of Matthew BENNETTS/BENNATTS and Clarenda VIVIAN based on the fact that two of Elizabeth's daughters were called Clarinda presumably named, I thought, after Elizabeth's mother. However, the Will of Matthew BENNATTS (1762) names his daughter Elizabeth as wife of William WILLIAMS. The wife of Matthew CORNELIUS was therefore one of the following:
- Elizabeth, daughter of Arthur BENNETT & Lucy BELLMAN, chr. 12 May 1717 in Illogan
- Elizabeth, daughter of Francis BENNETTS & John GILBERT, chr. 3 Aug 1723 in Gwennap
- Elizabeth, daughter of John BENNETTS & Margery GLANVILLE, chr. 20 May 1727 in Camborne
The third option (daughter of John and Margery) was the only other Elizabeth BENNETTS born in Camborne during the requisite period. If and when Elizabeth's parentage can be determined (perhaps she and her husband were named in her father's Will, whoever he was and insofar as he left one), then this branch can be re-attached to the main BENNETTS line [compiler].
