OBITUARY
"Mr. F. G. Stenlake
Keen regret was felt at the death of Mr Frederick George Stenlake at the General Hospital on February 7. Mr Stenlake was a native of Rockhampton and was the last of the Stenlake family, his brother. Mr W. H. Stenlake, and two sisters, Miss Mary Stenlake and Mrs. Stickley, having predeceased him.
He commenced work as a junior with New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd in 1893 and rose to the position of accountant. For health reasons, he retired on January 31, 1940, having served the company for a period of 47 years. He was well respected by all who knew him. He was an ardent worker and generous supporter of the Methodist Church, first at the Campbell Street circuit, then at North Rockhampton, Frenchville, Yeppoon and Glenmore Road. During his life he held most positions that a layman could carry out in the church, as trustee, circuit steward, Sunday school superintendent and Endeavour leader.
Living in retirement he was a great garden lover and, with his family, always took a keen interest in the flower shows held in Rockhampton and district.
He was a foundation member of the Rockhampton Bowling Club, but had not played bowls for some years. Much sympathy is extended to his widow and familv in their sorrow..." 4
