In 1871 Caroline Richards, aged 38, born in Mawgan Cornwall, and husband Henry Richards, aged 36, born in Wendron Cornwall, tin miner, were living in Gweek, Wendron. With them were daughter Mary J. (11) of Wendron, scholar, and Caroline's brother John Wearne (44) of Mawgan, unmarried, miller.

SUDDEN DEATH.—On Tuesday Mrs. Caroline Richards, aged 42, wife of a miner, was found quite dead by the roadside near Gweek village. It appears that she had spent some time at the house of Mr. Nicholas Christophers, of Gweek Mill, and left on Tuesday morning for her home. She was found dead about 300 yards from the mill. Deceased had suffered from epileptic fits for some years.
