Georgius Monachus Continuatus names "Bardas…Basilii rectoris pater et Symbatius Basilii frater, eiusdemque patruelis Asylaeon, nec non Constantinus Toxaras" as those who conspired with the future Emperor Basileios I to murder Emperor Mikhael III.
