   General Notes:

Also called Ašot "the Carnivorous" of Armenia.

He was chosen by the Arabs to be prince of Armenia (making his family the chief power in the land) in 806. Prince of Armenia in the Caliphate, Transcaucasia, between 806 and 826. Presiding Prince of the Bagratids between 806 and 826. He was elevated by the Greeks to the rank of curopalates in 813. (46th) curopalates in Kartli, Transcaucasia, between 813 and 830. He hosted Theodurus Abu Qurrah as the Syrian bishop composed his longest Greek treatise in 815. When Xalil, son of Izid, the Arabian, came forth and siezed Armenia, K'art'lim and Heret'i, they killed Ashot curopalates at Gadaban, in the church.
