The primary source which confirms her parentage and marriage has not yet been identified. Thietmar records the death on 27 Oct of "the venerable Friderun whose guests we were" in a passage recording his stay at the fortress of Zörbig, dated to 1015. Her unusual name could indicate that she was related to Frederuna, sister of Queen Mathilde. ¹
