Research Notes:
Niketas Choniates names "Euphrosyna" as wife of Emperor Alexios. Her parentage is confirmed by Niketas Choniates naming "fratri eius Camatero Basilio", referring to Euphrosyne, in a later passage. She escaped to Arta in Epirus and found refuge at the court of Mikhael Angelos.
Ephræmius records the death of "Euphrosyne regina" and her burial at Arta. 1
Marriage Information:
Euphrosyne married Alexios III Komnenos ANGELOS, Emperor of Byzantium, son of Andronikos Doukas ANGELOS and Euphrosyne KASTAMONITISSA, between 1170 and 1180. (Alexios III Komnenos ANGELOS was born before 1155 and died after 1211 in Monastery of Hyakinthos, Nikaia.)
