A charter dated 1015 records that “Gautier et son neveu Eble” had imposed punitive taxes on the people of Marmoutier and on the market near the chapel of Saint-Barthélemy which belonged to the abbey, and names Gauthier’s sons Gauthier and Rahier. 1
