At the time of the 1901 England Census Mr George Baker, age 43 [sic], born in Eastbourne Sussex, auctioneer & estate agent, and wife Lilian K, age 22, born in Beckenham Kent, were living in Massetts Road, Horley Surrey.
At the time of the 1911 England Census George Baker, age 43, born in Eastbourne, auctioneer & estate agent, and wife of 11 years Lilian K, age 32, born in Beckenham (mother of 2 children, 1 deceased), were living in Crowlink, Horley Surrey. With them was daughter Dorothy Lilian (7) of Horley.
In Jun 1918 George Isaac Baker, auctioneer, and his brother Charles Matthias Baker, corn merchant, were granted Probate of their late father's personal effects.

MR. G. BAKER.
The death occurred in Redhill County Hospital on Wednesday of Mr. George Baker, aged 83, of Crowlink, Balcombe-road, Horley. He was the father of Mrs. Norman Longley, of The Beeches, Crawley.
Mr. Baker was a member of the firm Messrs. Baker and Baker, auctioneers, of Horley, and founder of Horley Cattle Market. Of him it was said his hobby was his work and his work his hobby. He was at work as recently as Saturday.

DEATH OF MR. G. BAKER.—Mr. George Baker, of Crowlink, Balcombe-road, Horley, who was born at Crowlink, near Eastbourne, eighty-three years ago, passed away at the Surrey County Hospital, Earlswood, on June 27th. He was a senior partner of Messrs. Baker and Baker*, auctioneers and estate agents of Horley, a Fellow of the Auctioneers' Institute and a founder of Horley Cattle Market. In his younger days, he took a keen interest in amateur dramatics and possessed a very fine bass voice. For over fifty years he was a member of the Surrey and Adjoining Counties Agricultural Valuers' Association. The funeral, which was choral, took place at St. Bartholomew's Church, Horley, followed by the interment in Horley Churchyard. The Vicar of Horley (the Rev. J. H. Torrens) officiated.... The principal mourners were: Mr. and Mrs. Norman Longley (son-in-law and daughter) and Miss Judith Longley (granddaughter)....
