The identity of the wife of Llywelyn is uncertain. According to Griffith Hiraethog, who lived at the time of King Henry VIII, Llywelyn´s wife was “the daughter of Sir Robert Y Val, Arglwydd Trefgarn Owen”. Dwnn´s 1597 Visitations of Wales records that “Llywelyn ab Owein” married “Elen doughter to William de Barry”. 1
Peter Clement Bartrum in his Welsh Genealogies AD 300-1400, Cardiff, 1974, p. 782, shows Llewelyn's wife as Gwanas ferch Thomas ap Robinod.
