A charter dated to [1127] records that "Ricard Pontii filii" granted the manor of "Lechia" to "Mathildi uxori mee in matrimoniu" in exchange for her original marriage portion, the manor of Ullingswick in Herefordshire, which he gave to "Helie Giff in mat-monu cum filia mea Berta". "Helyas Giffardus" recorded that "uxori meę Bertę medietatem totius manerii de Ullingwike maritagii sui" and donated the property to Gloucester St Peter by charter dated 18 Jul 1163. The Historia sancti Petri Gloucestrię records the donation of "ecclesiam Beatę Marię de Boytone, ecclesiam Sancti Georgii de Orchestone cum capella Sancti Andreę de Wyneterborne" made "tempore Hamelini abbatis" [abbot from 1148 to 1179] made by "Helias Boy Gyffard", for the soul of "Bertę uxoris suus", later confirmed by "Walterus Giffard filius Helię
tempore Hamelini abbatis". The Historia sancti Petri Gloucestrię records that "Helias Giffard junior et Berta mater eius" donated "octo libratas terrę in Willyngwyke" in exchange for "Cronham quam pater eius dederat quando factus fuerat monachus", confirmed by "Helias filius eorum", and that "Berta uxor Helię Giffard" donated "terras in Wllingwuke
tempore Hamelini abbatis" [abbot from 1148 to 1179]. 1
