At the time of the 1861 England Census Harriet Hale, aged 38, born in W Bassett, and husband Jesse Hale, aged 56, born in W Bassett Wilts, laborer, were living in Old Court, Wootton Bassett. With them were children (born in W Bassett) Richard (18), labourer, Mary Ann (11), scholar, Martha (6), scholar, Betsey (4), scholar, and Lucy (1).

At the time of the 1871 England Census Harriet Hale, aged 48, born in Wootton Bassett Wilts, deaf, and husband Jesse Hale, aged 66, born in Wootton Bassett Wilts, receiving parish pay, were living in Old Court, Wootton Bassett. With them were children (born in Wootton Bassett) Martha (17), scholar, Bessie (14), scholar, Se---- (9), scholar, Thomas (5), scholar, and Emily F (1).

At the time of the 1881 England Census Harriett Hale, aged 58, born in Wootton Bassett Wilts, widow, deaf for 35 years, late a laundress but now receiving outdoor parish relief, was living in Old Court, Wootton Bassett. Present were daughters (born in Wootton Bassett) Selah J. (18), general domestic servant unemployed, and Emily F. (11), scholar, granddaughters (born in Purton Wilts) Florence L Hale (2) and Harriet E. Hale (1).

At the time of the 1891 England Census Harriett Hale, aged 67, born in Wootton Bassett Wilts, widow, deaf, was living in Old Court, Wootton Bassett. With her were son Fred. (25) of Wootton Bassett, general labourer, and granddaughter Harriet Hale (10) of Purton Wilts.

At the time of the 1901 England Census Harriett Hale, aged 77, born in Wootton Bassett Wilts, widow, deaf, was living in Beamans Lane, Wootton Bassett. Daughter Emily Gibbs and her family were living nearby.
